With the support of U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), chair of the House Financial Services Committee, U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) introduced H.R. 3621, the Comprehensive CREDIT Act of 2020. CDIA strongly objects to this legislation and as part of the effort to prevent the bill from passing, CDIA authored a letter to Chair Waters and the Ranking Member, Patrick McHenry (R-NC); and a letter to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
The bill passed the House of Representatives in January 2020 on a largely partisan margin of 221-189. Chairperson Waters issued a press release announcing the bill’s passage, House Passes Pressley Bill to Reform Broken Credit Reporting System.
