CDIA filed a comment with the California Privacy Protection Agency (“CPPA”) following its issuance of an Invitation for Preliminary Comments on Proposed Rulemaking Under the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (“CPRA”). CDIA’s comments addressed automated decisioning, a right to correct information, a right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, the business purposes for which entities may combine personal information and use personal information on their own behalf, establishing exceptions necessary to comply with state or federal law, the purpose limitation exception for “security and integrity” activities, repealing or delaying the enforcement of employment context and business to business communications exemptions sunsets, and uniformity with similar state laws.
