We learned recently that there is a tenant screening Report to the ABA House of Delegates from the Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defense, the Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, the Section on Civil Rights and Social Justice. In this report, the committee, commissions, and section are recommending that the “American Bar Association adopt[] the ABA Ten Guidelines for Residential Eviction Laws, black letter and commentary, dated February 2022; and…[t]hat the American Bar Association urge[] all federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal legislative, judicial, and other governmental bodies to implement the ABA Ten Guidelines for Residential Eviction Laws.
This report to the ABA’s House of Delegates follows a resolution adopted in 2020 by the House also on tenant screening.
