In March 2018, the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee held a hearing, a hearing, Legislative Proposals to Reform the Current Data Security and Breach Notification Regulatory Regime.

The committee agenda had two bills:
