In May 2005, the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services held a hearing, Enhancing Data Security: The Regulators’ Perspective. There were three witnesses: Robert M. Fenner, the General Counsel of the National Credit Union Administration; Lydia B. Parnes, the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission; and Sandra Thompson, the Deputy Director of the Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
