Overview

Program Description

The FCRA Certificate Program for Data Users is a synched audio-visual course (you will need headphones or speakers in order to take this training). On average the course takes 2-4 hours to complete the 13 training modules and final exam, depending on your familiarity with the FCRA. The program is designed to allow you to work through the training modules at your own speed, logging out and returning as necessary. The site should NOT be exited during the final exam. Once you have completed the exam you will receive your score immediately. A score of 80% or more is required to pass. For audit purposes, a certificate of completion is available upon successfully passing the course. The certificate is valid for two years.

Program Structure

Each learning module is organized into three main components:

    1. Key provisions of the FCRA law
      – Step one involves reading the text of the FCRA itself
    2. Explanation of the Law
      Step two breaks down the language of the FCRA and explains language and terms.
      Further, you will find hyperlinks that bring you to selected FTC Commentary examples and FTC Staff Opinion Letters.
      Please note that for the purposes of this training course, the FTC Commentary as well as the FTC Staff Opinion Letters serve mainly as an additional reference tool.
    3. An assessment test at the end of the explanatory material

– Each training module includes sample test questions throughout.

Who Should Take This Program?

Understanding and adhering to FCRA compliance requirements should be part of every company’s due diligence when working with consumers on issues that pertain to this federal law.

Compliance training is an essential part of your Compliance Management System (CMS) obligation. It demonstrates the professionalism and competence of your employees as well as your organization.

Non-compliance can carry not only enormous legal consequences but also economic and reputational damages. CDIA’s FCRA certificate program has gained widespread recognition as a valuable tool in working towards compliance and providing employees with the training they need.

How Long Do I Have to Take It?

The FCRA certificate course is self paced. You have one year from the date you are enrolled to finish. The course will expire after one year if not completed. There is no option to extend the course deadline; a new course will need to be purchased.

Exam Taking & Grading Information

The FCRA is a complex piece of legislation. As such, the training material requires us to introduce you to a lot of terminology as well as important concepts and provisions of the FCRA.

CDIA recommends that you break up taking the course into several sessions. Our system will remember where you left off each time you log in to the site. Once you complete all assigned training modules you are granted access to the final FCRA exam. If you opt not to take the exam immediately, you can go back to the various training modules to review the training material further.

The final exam is a mixture of “true or false” and multiple choice questions. Upon completing the exam you will receive your score immediately. You will have the opportunity to review your exam as well. Once you pass, you will receive a certificate (valid for two years) indicating you are knowledgeable about the FCRA and its provisions. If your attempt at the exam is not successful, but you still wish to earn a certificate, you will need to purchase the course again.
