In December 2021, six U.S. Senators, all Democrats, sent a letter to CFPB Director Rohit Chopra expressing concern about potential consumer harm caused by BNPL products (Dec. 2021). The letter is noted in a press release. The letter was signed by U.S. Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) was joined by Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Tina Smith (D-MN), and Jon Ossoff (D-GA).
